BASICS
1)What's your characters name?
Mallory "Mal" Hazlitt
2)How old is he/she?
24
3)Is your OC a boy or girl?
Male. Though with a name like "Mallory," suffice it to say that when people are told they are going to meet him, they usually expect he's going to be a girl .
4)What's his/her race?
Temperamental artiste.
APPEARANCE
1)If this character were to suddenly become part of the real world, and ended up in a heavily-populated area, how many stares would he/she get?
That would depend on whether he was dressed in normal clothes, as he often is, or if he was dressed in his 18th century aristocratic garb that he wears to parties and other special occasions.
2)Is your character considered normal in his/her own world?
Hehee... nooo...
3)What would be his/her most recognizable feature(s)?
That would have to be the sword he wears hanging from his belt.... (That's not sexual innuendo - it really is an actual sword!) One of Mal's greatest desires is to emulate royalty, so he often wears a sword in order to imitate kings, like this picture of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, where he's wearing a sword:

Physically speaking, his more recognizable features would be his thick jet-black hair that's thrown back like a lion's mane, his dark brown eyes, and his somewhat knobby nose.
4)Would you consider your OC as attractive?
Sure. With his strong jawline and solid, muscular build, he's a bit butch for my personal tastes, but that's just because I tend to fancy the small, delicate types, more like Dustin, LOL.
PERSONALITY
1)Temper?
There are just a couple of things that will get the otherwise-mild-mannered Mal angry. Those mainly have to do with his paintings, or with jealousy regarding Dustin. Or both. (Mal is jealous, in particular, of one artist named Eris Kagan. Not because he thinks Dustin is going to leave him for her, but because Dustin likes Eris's paintings more than he likes Mal's paintings. To Mal, this is an even bigger form of infidelity.)
2)Does your character ever get depressed?
He'll fall into slumps when he'll declare himself to be a complete failure because his art isn't receiving recognition, and then there's nothing that can rouse his spirits. Then the next thing you know, an art-related offer will come his way, or he'll get some flash of inspiration, and he'll go on an art-making binge that could last days at a time, during which he refuses to focus on anything else at all.
3)Leader or Follower?
He would be a leader - that's very much in keeping with his nature - it's just that he hasn't gotten anyone to follow him yet.
4)What is the main aspect of his/her personality?
I've tended to play Mal as something of the straightman to Dustin's antics lately. But that's not to say he doesn't have quite a few quirks of his own. In fact, it may very well be that he rivals his aristocratic paramour in quirkiness as well as in his desire to feign a royal background. Mal's obsessed with royalty. His personal hero is "Mad" King Ludwig II of Bavaria, mainly because King Ludwig had Neuschwanstein Castle built when castles were already a thing of the storied past. Mal's greatest dream would be to have a castle built for himself and Dustin. For now, though, he's relegated to simply dreaming about it, and acting out his royal fantasies as often as he can - whether it's by attending lavish costume parties in full kingly regalia, or simply reading the morning papers in a toga and laurel crown.
Mal is a struggling painter. And he tends to be very temperamental about his paintings, especially when people aren't appreciating them enough. (Which is the majority of the time.) The catch is, that he thinks he has pioneered a brand new style of art - and perhaps he really has - which he calls "Rudimentaryism." (Paintings consisting of only the most basic, Rudimentary shapes.) He's entirely capable of making gorgeous, elaborate works of art, but instead chooses his very simplistic and child-like Rudimenataryism, which would consist, say, of an otherwise-blank canvas with a red sphere in the middle of it that he insists is a depiction of an apple. And then he goes around crestfallen that this style of artwork hasn't bought him great fame and recognition yet.
Dustin more or less humors him and acts like his loves it, but Mal can see around that, and gets in a tiff when he sees Dustin adoring more traditional and complex pieces. Mal can get quite defensive about his art. For instance, when a man attending one of his (rare) exhibits said to him, "Eh... your paintings are pretty good," Mal replied from between clenched teeth, "Why, thank you. I'm marginally flattered by that." When people look upon his paintings with perplexed expressions, he's known to utter his catchphrase, "It gets better if you squint at it."
HISTORY
1) Did your OC have a family of any sort? If so, are they still alive?
That's one aspect of his life I haven't elaborated on yet. I really don't know much about his family.
2) Is your character out on his/her own? If so, why?
He lives with his lover, Dustin, in a little apartment in San Francisco. A few of his closest friends live in the same apartment complex.
4)What was probably the best time in his/her life so far?
He's probably in it right now. By being in a relationship with Dustin (who fancies himself an aristocrat) he gets to live out his royal fantasies on a daily basis. He and Dustin throw lavish themed costume parties with their friends. He's got it good, and he knows it. Now if he could just get his artwork to receive the appreciation he's so sure it deserves, he would likely deem his life to be perfect.
ROMANCE
1) Single?
No.
2) Has your OC developed any romantic relationships?
Yes, he's been together with Dustin for three years now. They usually get along smashingly, though they do have their points of contention with each other. For instance, Dustin suffers from the condition known as "Stendhal Syndrome." (He faints when he sees really beautiful works of art.) He'll often faint from the works of classical artists, as well as the works of a couple of artists he knows personally. But he's never fainted from one of Mal's paintings. And Mal will be eternally huffy over this fact. He takes it very personally that his paintings have never induced a fainting spell in Dustin. It's even gotten to the point where Mal has jumped out suddenly in front of Dustin while holding one of his paintings, and yelled "Boo!" in a bid to induce his lover to faint.
3) Virgin?
Nope.
4) Does your character like flirting?
He's not much of a flirt. He's very happy in his relationship with Dustin, so he doesn't see much of a point in flirting with other people.
SYMBOLISM
1) What animal would you associate your OC with?
Maybe a lion. With his strong build and tendencies toward acting all regal, he reminds me of one of those lion statues that sit at the front of old, big important buildings, with their heads raised all proudly.
2) Musical Instrument?
Grand piano.
3) Element?
Air.
4)Planet?
Mars.
RANDOMIZE!
1) Is your character wanted for anything?
No, not unless someone finally makes a fuss about him carrying that sword in public.
2) What are three weaknesses in him/her?
He can be very self-absorbed. He's easily distracted. He's very prone to "keeping up appearances" and tends to make decisions based on how a given outcome will make him look, etc.
3) Strengths?
He can be very cool-headed in the face of adversity, like when he needs to revive Dustin from one of his fainting spells. His friends know that beyond his extravagant temper-tantrums, he really can be a rock that they can rely on when it's necessary. And most of the time he's actually rather laid back.
4) Does your OC drink or smoke (ect.)?
Not particularly. One time Dustin offered him a cup of Absinthe, and Mal was very eager to drink it because he thought it sounded so mysterious and interesting - but it turned out that Dustin was just messing with him and the cup contained nothing but green Kool-Aid.
5) What's one quirk about him/her?
Besides all the ones I've already mentioned? Okay, here's one more: While Dustin speaks at all times with a "hoity-toity" affectation to his voice (His voice needs to match his aristocratic costumes, after all...) Mal's voice seems to be transitory - that's to say, he speaks with a modern-sounding, accent-less voice for the majority of the time, and then speaks with an affected more-or-less British-sounding accent when he gets all dressed up in his fanciest costumes. People tend to point this out, and inquire why he sounds so different depending on the occasion. But Mal pretends he doesn't understand what they mean by it, and maintains that his voice sounds the same all the time.
6) Does your character have any phobias?
He is very afraid of anything that threatens his masculinity. (One would think that a man who felt this way wouldn't voluntarily go around dressed in ruffles and lace, then, but I digress...)
Also, it makes him very uncomfortable when other men flirt with him, especially if Mal deems them to be "stronger than he is."
7) What could you do to get him/her into a blind rage?
Insult his paintings. Harm, or threaten to harm his loved ones. (Notice the order those are listed in... that's not by accident. *sigh* )
8) Does your OC like chickens?
Sure, I don't see why not.
THE FINAL QUESTION
What would you consider your relationship with your character to be like?
I think we'd get along pretty well, as long as it was one-on-one. Once you bring Dustin into the mix, though, Mal would probably get ticked-off at me pretty fast, because I'd always be leering suggestively at his partner. (Hey, I didn't write Dustin as an exaggerated caricature of my personal tastes in guys for nothing, you know.)

I can't wait to see your next picture!!
